Wayne State's Cultural Gateway
Established in 1986, the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts (CFPCA) serves over 2,000 students majoring in 16 undergraduate and 11 graduate programs - many of which are nationally accredited - through its departments: Department of Communication, Department of Music, the James Pearson Duffy Department of Art and Art History and the Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance. The college's sheer size and diversity make it a major force in the life of Wayne State University and in the Greater Detroit Metro area. Its location offers students easy access to the very best of the cultural riches of the area: museums, galleries and professional performance venues. Equally important, students benefit from numerous internship opportunities in industry, advertising, public relations, newspapers and national broadcast network affiliates.
In this setting of cultural diversity and advanced technologies, students benefit from expert faculty and state of the art resources and win top rankings in national and international competitions and tournaments. CFPCA's alumni include a Pulitzer prize-winning journalist and recipients of and nominees for the Grammy, Emmy, Tony, Golden Globe, Obie, Screen Actors Guild and Caldecott awards.
We encourage you to watch a debate, take in a show, attend a concert or come to an exhibition. Please click on each department's link for a complete listing of all of our events. Stop in for a visit or inquire about a tour by calling or e-mailing the department of your choice. We look forward to hearing from you!
